TechEd Sydney - Day One

Published by sethyates at 12:29 am under Personal

Finished the first day at TechEd in Sydney. Highlights of the day:

  • The keynote was very interesting. Not your typical Microsoftie jumping around yelling “Developers! Developers! Developers!” like days past. Instead, we were treated to a rather insightful look at the human side of computing and how its changing the culture for the new “digital natives”. Followed up by a fun conference opener by Frank (hey, mate, just noticed I’m not on your blogroll–do I need to send you an email?).
  • Catching up with my mate Paul Andrew at his Windows Workflow Foundation introduction. An awesome presentation as always, and his product looks really cool.
  • Ron Jacobs gave another good presentation on “What do architects do anyway?”….Ah, finally I have an answer to that burning question :-)
  • Lunch was surprisingly good.
  • Network connection at the CommNet was excellent. My favourite employment site loaded in a blink of an eye.

Lowlights:

  • The X-Box 360 stations were chocka everytime I dropped by.
  • The weather in Sydney was so nice today that it was a shame to stay inside all day.
  • Network connection in the hotel sucks arse. No WiFi. Shamefully slow broadband.
